Queer Rising Shuts Down 6th Avenue

Just posted a story at the Voice about how the group Queer Rising shut down the intersection at Sixth Avenue and 42nd Street at the height of rush hour this morning.

It was a quite crew they rounded up for this action. Here’s founding member Jake Goodman, leading Kevin Beauchamp, who is blind:

Founding members Goodman, Natasha Dillon, Nora Camp and Eugene Lovendusky were joined by drag queens Honey LaBronx, Kitten Withuwhip, and Frostie Flakes.

Once their banner was unfurled, which spanned all of Sixth Avenue, it only took the NYPD a few minutes to arrest all of them and re-open traffic.

Surprisingly, the New York public wasn’t too impatient. One bus driver even got off his coach to take video, while Natasha Dillon was being hand cuffed.
